Breakaway Cycling started on the 24th of August, 2013. The first event we participated in was the Vork ITT, winning the 20th edition of the Danish race with Archibald Till, Buck Traeger taking second.
After entering Div 8, the team saw quite a few face changes, most notably Dutch climber Joord Kuipers. Unfortunately Kuipers didn't amount to a good finish by the time his transfer came. Other faces came and gone include Rhett Hilarides (JAM), Cort Wesseling (NED) and Herbert Takser (GBR SC).
Currently the team consists of 9 riders: sprinting captain Max Barting (GER), main captain and vice captain Radoslav Holoubek (CZE) and Domingos Saldanha (POR), along with Otávo Frade (POR), Jimmi Jøhnke (DEN), Viktor Huseby (NOR), Matjaz Pirnat (SLO), Maurits Berggård (SWE) and our recent local talent, Kingsley Peachey (JAM).
After the Vork ITT, the higher division really knocked us around, eventually with our points expiring and sending us back into the beginner class. We used this inconvenience to get back into the game, hoping for a win and top 3 place in three races entered. Here were the results:
DEN - GL. HOLEN GP
1: NOR - Viktor Huseby
2: CZE - Radoslav Holoubek
5: POR - Domingos Saldanha
GER - DORTMUND FLATS
1: GER - Max Barting
2: SWE - Maurits Berggård
8: NOR - Viktor Huseby
DEN - KORNING GP
2: CZE - Radoslav Holoubek
5: POR - Domingos Saldanha
8: DEN - Jimmi Jøhnke
11: GBR - Herbert Tasker
13: SLO - Matjaz Pirnat
This gave us what I hoped would be a pretty big boost to launch into season 27. We are now 2nd in Jamaica at 120 points. Unfortunately, we're still strapped for cash at the moment, so we'll mostly be doing jobs for a while.
